Our Gala Auction Event on November 10th was a resounding success and the entire herd was sold with the audience going “hog wild” at times! The event raised almost $130,000 and all auction proceeds will be reinvested back into the community. Our participating artists received almost $12,000 of the Auction proceeds and our 4 not-for-profit partners received almost $4,000. Developed as a collaborative project by the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and the Sedona Arts Festival, nearly 60 area artists brought their considerable talents to the project and our generous business sponsors adopted and showcased the javelinas during the 18 month parade. The Sedona Arts Festival will use its money to fund arts programming and scholarships; the Sedona Chamber will use its share to further promote the arts and position Sedona as a premier arts destination.
Designated an Arizona Treasure by Governor Janet Napolitano, Javelinas on Parade™ succeeded in combining the talent of creative artists that adorned these fantastic sculptures with the business community that sponsored the project and clearly demonstrated that Sedona is truly a “city animated by the Arts!”.
A special thanks to the Artists and Sponsors, Javelinas on Parade Committee, Boards of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce and the Sedona Arts Festival, Governor Janet Napolitano, the City of Sedona, the Sedona Community Foundation, Joel Gilgoff, Debra Bodnar, Greta Schiegg of Northern Arizona Auctioneers, Rowlan Hill, Master Auctioneer, the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa, Los Abrigados Resort & Spa, Barbara Brown, Larry Lindahl, Leon Lunsway, Herb Tiffany of Tiffany Construction, Timber Creek Art Works, Vince’s Autobody Shop, Lon and Margi Walters, our Wine Tasting Sponsors - Echo Canyon Vineyard & Winery and Page Springs Cellars, and our Media Partners - the Larson Newspapers, Sedona Magazine, KUDOS and the Red Rock Review.
